In 2020 about 15 thousand people from all municipal and urban districts of the Penza Oblast took part in the "Great Ethnographic Dictation", according to the coordination headquarters of the campaign's organisers.
"A significant increase in the number of participants is due to the new accessible online format and a good information campaign. As we had expected, the number of people who wanted to write a dictation online without leaving home during the pandemic has increased," said Pavel Maslov, head of the internal policy department of the Penza Oblast government.
Note: Since 2018, the ethnographic dictation has been included in the "Strategy of State National Policy for the Period up to 2025" implementation plan and has become very popular in Russia and the world.
Since 2017, the "Great Ethnographic Dictation" has become an international event. It is written in the CIS countries and by our compatriots in foreign countries. The number of people who want to participate in the campaign is constantly growing - from 90 thousand in 2015 to 1.7 million in 2020.
