The event dedicated to the Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry was held on Friday, November 29th, 2019.
Representatives of the agro-industrial sector, invited to a business breakfast with the head of the region, rated the closing agricultural season and announced the goals and objectives for 2020.
Addressing the participants of the event, Ivan Belozertsev congratulated the farmers on their professional holiday and noted that despite difficult weather conditions in the spring and summer this year good results were achieved in the agricultural sector of Penza region.
“Despite the dry weather, causing insufficient moistening of plants, you have harvested a decent amount of grain and leguminous crops,” stated the Head of a constituent entity of the Federation stated.
“The agro-industrial complex is a leading sector of the economy of Penza region. In many respects, our region occupies leading positions in Volga Federal District and Russia. This is your merit”, he emphasized, referring to the farmers.
Currently, the contribution of agricultural workers to the gross regional product is almost 15%. The agricultural production index for the first 10 months of this year is 114.6%. According to this indicator, Penza region took first place among other regions of Volga Federal District.
In the course of informal communication with the governor, the representatives of the agricultural community also discussed a number of problematic issues and outlined the prospects for the development of agricultural production in the region in 2020.
