Governor: Biomedical cluster of the Penza region boosts production

Within the 5th All-Russian Forum InnoMed-2018 Ivan Belozertsev visited the operating unit of the new educational biomedical centre established at Rameev Technology Park and participated in the launch of the production line of medical goods for traumatology and orthopaedics. He also inspected the industrial exhibition and communicated with manufacturers of products for healthcare system, who represented 11 Russian regions, including Moscow, as well as a number of foreign countries.

“I am convinced that InnoMed Forum is a significant event not only for the Penza region, but also for other Russian regions and our foreign partners. The forum has already become a traditional venue where the issues of advances in medicine, production of items and equipment for healthcare system are discussed,” Ivan Belozertsev stated.

“The Penza region created excellent conditions for developing this sector, promoting cooperation between scientists, doctors, engineers, manufacturers of medical goods, and establishing innovative enterprises. The start-up of the joint Russian-Chinese production line for making endoprostheses is the best proof of this,” he stressed during the launch of the new production facility initiated by Titanmed LLC, Penzaimplant LLC and Naton Medical Group.

Over the first year of the above-mentioned project operation, it is planned to manufacture more than 42 thousand units, in subsequent periods – up to 130 thousand units per year.

More than 400 representatives of education and science, industrial production, healthcare system, institutes of economic development are taking part in two-day InnoMed Forum.

The forum is a platform for the exhibition where over 30 companies display their products, including three enterprises from the Federal Republic of Germany and 11 – from the Russian Federation. They represent the industrial establishments from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Veliky Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and Tambov regions, and the Republic of Tatarstan.

On the exhibition, the Penza region features modern medical goods that have been commercialised and innovations that will appear on the market in the near future.

“The biomedical cluster of the Penza region is boosting production. The research and development enterprise MedInzh Ltd. supplies its products to 25 countries around the world. We can be proud of the advances made by our companies,” the head of the region evaluated the cluster performance.

“At present, the biomedical cluster of the Penza region is the only industrial cluster in this field included in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia,” he added.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for supporting the Penza biomedical companies in innovation development. At the forum, the ministry was represented by Aleksey Alekhin, Director of the Department for the Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry. Ivan Belozertsev voiced the hope that forum participants will effectively work towards upgrading biomedical industry.
