The semi-finals of the intellectual contest for young scientists and innovators ‘UMNIK’ started on November 1st in the ‘Yablochkov’ technology park, Penza. The contest is conducted within the framework of the research conference ‘Young scientists and Russia’s innovative growth’ supported by the Innovation Promotion Fund.
The board of experts, assessing the works of the contestants, includes regional government executives and scientists of the best innovative enterprises of the region. Each contestant is given a maximum of 10 minutes for their project presentation.
The young scientists will show their research projects in digital technologies, new generation equipment, intellectual production systems, biotechnologies, and resource-saving energy-production.
As different from previous years, this year’s contestants will include not only university students but the young scientist already working at various regional companies, among them AO ‘Centre for Technology Commercialization’, Research cluster ‘Rosoperator’, OOO ‘Elektromekhizmereniye’, AO ‘Revunov Electronics Company’, OOO ‘Amazon’.
The chosen competitors will participate in the finals of the intellectual contest ‘UMNIK’ that will take place on December 6th in ‘Rameev’ technology park. The winners will also receive 500,000 roubles for their projects.
‘Supporting the innovative projects of young scientists contributes to the development of the Penza region and creates favorable conditions for starting small enterprizes in the innovations sphere,’ noted the Deputy Chair of the Government of the Penza region Valery Bespalov.
