One of the important social issues is providing mobile network connection in distant locations. Due to various reasons some districts in the Penza region can have low or no mobile coverage at all. The solution was found by the mobile network provider Tele2 that now offers stable mobile signal and high-speed internet to two distant villages in the Penza region.
‘I am happy to see that small distant villages can now also enjoy quality mobile networks. Not only it is great for daily communication, it is also important that people can now use online government services and solve a lot of problems without leaving their homes. It is also the opportunity to use social networks for keeeping in touch with the world,’ said the head of the IT department of the Penza regional government Aleksey Kostin.
More than 760 people from the village Stary Chirim can now use 2G, 3G and 4G mobile netwoks after the new mast was built in the area. The neighbouring village Novy Chirim, located several kilometers away, can now also use the mobile network.
This project became possible after the Tele2 CEO Sergey Emdin and the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev signed an agreement on cooperation in providing mobile connection. The agreement suggests joint development of federal and region programmes, investment projects and finding the solutions in the spheres of safety and environmental protection. As per agreement, the villagers from remote areas of the Penza region will now be enjoying good mobile coverage, where due to specific reasons telephone lines were either technically impossible or economically not feasible.
