The governor informed about the successes and development plans of the sector at a ceremony dedicated to the Day of the Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry on Friday, November 29th, 2019.
He noted that the agricultural sector is rightfully considered the locomotive of the region’s economic well-being.
“The production index for the 10 months of this year amounted to 114.6%. According to this indicator, we took first place in Volga Federal District”, stated Ivan Belozertsev.
He added that livestock breeding is the flagship in the development of the agricultural complex of Penza region. This year, livestock and poultry production for slaughter in live weight is expected to total record-breaking 375 thousand tons. In terms of the growth rate of this indicator, the region takes first place among the regions of Volga Federal District and third place in Russia.
Ivan Belozertsev paid special attention to the growing investment attractiveness of the region.
“In 2019, over 18 billion rubles were invested in the development of the agro-industrial complex, which is a record amount. Among investors are the largest Russian and foreign companies, thanks to which a number of new facilities are being built”, recalled the Head of the region.
The governor congratulated the managers and outstanding workers of agricultural enterprises and outlined the main paths of further development of the sector. This will be facilitated by comprehensive support from the authorities, including the implementation of the program "Integrated development of rural territories of Penza region". About 700 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes in 2020.
