The Ministry of Economy of the Penza region summed up the results of the foreign trade turnover of the region for January-September of the current year.
According to the Central Customs Administration of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the foreign trade turnover of the Penza region for the first nine months of 2017 amounted to more than 326.3 million US dollars, it increased by 43.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
The volume of exports of goods for the first nine months of 2017 increased by 38.6% and amounted to 155.9 million dollars. The volume of exports to the countries of the far abroad and the Baltics amounted to 63 million dollars (40.5% of the total volume), CIS countries - 92 million dollars (59.5%). Food and raw materials, equipment and mechanical device are still the main exported goods. Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus are the largest export partners.
Imports for this period amounted to 170.4 million dollars, which is 47.7% higher than in the first nine months of 2016. From foreign countries, products were imported to 148.9 million dollars (87.4% of the total volume), from CIS countries - to 21.5 million dollars (12.6%). Most of all in the total volume in the region imported products from China, the Czech Republic, Germany and Belarus. The territory of the region is imported machines, equipment and vehicles, wood and pulp and paper products, as well as chemical products.
"The tendency to increase the volume of foreign trade turnover, first of all, is connected with the gradual release of Penza enterprises to the world market. This year, the Penza region trades with more than 70 countries of the near and far abroad. The growth of exports is connected with the active position of Penza producers in the search for new markets, new mechanisms to support exporters. This year, the Export Support Center started its work, which organizes business missions to foreign countries and the CIS for businessmen, helps in finding partners abroad, conducts consultations on foreign economic activity, " - said Minister of Economy of the region Sergey Kapralov.
He added that 14 million rubles were allocated from the budget of the Penza region to support export-oriented enterprises in 2017.
