The governor met with foreign participants of the first International Festival of Youth and Students “Lastochka” (Swallow) on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
In his welcoming speech, Ivan Belozertsev noted the increasing role of international cooperation for the development of the region.
“The Penza region is in partnership with many countries, we are expanding cooperation with foreign business. Last year the export volume doubled. Our products are delivered to 70 countries around the world. Not only economic but also cultural cooperation is increasing,” the head of the region reported.
He added that special attention is also paid to youth policy.
“Our higher education institutions accept students from different countries. This confirms the level of education in the region in the best way,” the governor explained.
We have a desire to unite our youth. It allows looking at the world in a new way and finding friends from other countries. The international exchange of best practices is an impetus for the development of regions,” Ivan Belozertsev concluded.
Leonid Levin, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, pointed out that the region became the centre of the international event not by chance.
“The Penza region is like New Hampshire in the US: how this state votes, so the US does. If you would like to know what the young people are thinking about and what they are discussing, you should come to Penza and talk with the youth here,” he identified.
Javier Hurtado Mira, President of the Democrat Youth Community of Europe, noted the great energy of the festival.
“The event confirms that the international student cooperation is great, that Russia is developing in this regard, and that Penza is a platform for major international events,” he remarked.
Javier Hurtado Mira stressed that the Community is open for cooperation with Penza youth, and welcomed further bilateral interaction.
The participants shared impressions about the festival, discussed the prospects for cooperation, including collaboration in the sphere of student exchange programmes and joint events.
