Ivan Belozertsev visited a sugar manufacturing plant in Zemetchino on November 7th, 2018.
The plant is one of the oldest in the region, as it was founded in 1849. Currently it is part of the ‘Prodimeks’ agriholding.
More than 380 people are employed at the plant. The economic output for the period from January to September of 2018 amounted to 811.5 billion roubles.
This year the plant has started an important project in building the large storage facilities.
The advanced solution has already brought positive results for the beet root producers from the neighbouring regions. Head of the region expressed his approval of the new project.
‘Last year the sugar beet growers sometimes had to wait up to two weeks to be accepted. The new facilities has eliminated this problem,’ he said.
The new storage accepts beet roots grown and harvested in several districts of the Penza region - Belinsk, Spassk, Vadinsk and Zemetchino.
The project costs will amount to 221 billion roubles, 75 billion roubles were drawn from the regional budget.
‘We provide the financing of the project, as it is important to develop the best options for storing the home-grown beet roots,’ said the governor.
He also stressed the possibility of potential increase of manufacturing output and asked to analyze the resources and demands of sugar beet growers from various districts.
He mentioned that the areas of farming lands have increased and the sugar beet growing possibilites have also increased.
Vadim Eryzhensky, one of the top managers of the ‘Prodimeks’ agriholding, stressed that the manufactuing plant in Zemetchino uses the advanced equipment produced in Russia using the latest technologies.
‘I want to say that the project became possible only because the investment policy and situation in the region has changed significantly,’ he said.
Igor Mishunin, head of the manufacturing plant, explained that the new storage facilities will allow to store up to 150 000 tonnes of sugar beet.
The new technologies will allow to store it for many months without its losing its valuable properties. The fresh supply will also allow the plant to increase the operating period by two months.
The new project has created 25 new jobs with the monthly salaries around 25 thousand roubles.
