The Ministry of Economy ranked the Penza Region among the constituent entities in the Volga Federal District and the Russian Federation according to the key indicators of social and economic development based on Russian Federal State Statistics Service data for the first 11 months of 2018.
The monitoring showed that the Penza Region is still among the leaders in the Volga Federal District in terms of the industrial production index, withthe second position in the rating.
Industrial production rose by 105.6% due to the steady advancement of manufacturing. Compared with the same period in 2017, the region gained 6 positions in the Volga Federal District according to this indicator.
The region witnesses enhanced investments. For the first 9 months of 2018, they increased by 127.9%. As a result, the Penza region ranks first among the constituent entities in the Volga Federal District and 9th in the Russian Federation in terms of investment growth rates.
The development of the consumer market is a major indicator of the economic climate. In the first 11 months of the last year, this sphere continued to show a positive trend. In terms of growth of marketed services, the region is second in the district and 13thin Russia with the indicator of 103.5%.
Compared with the same 11-month period in 2017, the increase in exports from the Penza Region amounted to 127.6%, which is higher than the last-year average in the Volga Federal District equal to 118.5%.
The Penza Region maintains its position in the ranking according to the lowest cost of food basket. It is placed second in the Volga Federal District and 7thin the Russian Federation. At the end of November 2018, food basket cost 3,287.2 roubles.
Inflation for 11 months of 2018 in the region amounted to 103.4%, which corresponds to the average Russian values. According to this indicator, the region ranks 7th in the district and 15th in Russia.
