Roman Kalentyev, the Penza Oblast Acting Minister of Agriculture, was a speaker at the "Dairy Session" in Moscow.
He spoke at the section called "Best regional practices for the dairy industry development", presenting the experience of the Penza Oblast in this field. ArtyomBelov, General Director of Soyuzmoloko, moderated the section.
Roman Kalentyev told the participants of the event how the industry is developing and being supported in the region. "At the end of 2020, the gross milk production in farms of all categories amounted to 384.2 thousand tons, which is 11.6% higher than in 2019. The dynamics of the indicator is obvious: in 2019, milk production in the region's commodity sector amounted to 223.9 thousand tons, in 2020 – 266.4 thousand tons. The productivity of the dairy herd in agricultural enterprises at the end of 2020 amounted to 8406 kg of milk. According to the increase in milk yield per 1 cow in agricultural organisations, the region is the leader in the Volga Federal District with an indicator of 114.2%."
Roman Kalentyev also spoke about measures to support the industry in the region and shared his experience in the development of large holdings: "Recently, the second stage of the dairy complex of our large milk producer Rusmolko (one of the TOP 3 largest milk producers in Russia) was opened as part of the expansion of the holding's project to 7200 heads of dairy herd, and the project of Agro-Industrial Enterprise Vostok Agro OOO for the construction of a complex for 2250 heads of dairy herd is also being implemented at a good pace in the region."
Roman Kalentyev stressed that for 2021, the region has set the task to maintain the leading positions in the Volga Federal District in milk yield per 1 cow and reach the level of at least 9000 kg. It is also planned to increase milk production by 8% by 2023.
