The governor set several missions on increasing the efficiency of the Corporation for Development of the Penza region.

The agency is aimed at creating favourable investment climate, attracting new companies to the region, monitoring projects in an efficient manner, and developing infrastructure for the implementation of projects.

In 2017, the volume of investments in fixed capital amounted to 72.5 billion roubles.

The pharmaceutical industry, the production of medical products and equipment, the IT sector, agriculture, furniture and clothing clusters, and the tourism industry are among the promising areas for the development in the near future.

In terms of international cooperation, the Development Corporation this year intends to establish and strengthen relations with companies from India, France, China, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Japan and other countries.

The head of the region noted that it is necessary to intensify efforts and to seek new options for cooperation alongside with supporting the on-going projects.

“We should accompany our businesses to other countries, communicate with partners, make presentations, and show what we have achieved. We went to Italy and set agenda, for example, for light industry, woodworking, and tourism. We need more specificity,” Ivan Belozertsev stated.

“That means not only regular contacts and negotiations with business representatives, but also detailed projects, as the investors’ interest depends on the quality of the outlined proposals,” he stressed.

“People leave the rural areas for places where employment is available. What can the Development Corporation offer them here? Compile the lists of projects for each municipal entity,” the governor instructed.

“There are many companies that are willing to work in the Penza region. We should stimulate their interest through tangible proposals, the implementation of which will derive benefits for investors,” Ivan Belozertsev summarised.
