Governor discusses prospects of cooperation between Penza region and European businesses

On 24 May 2018, Ivan Belozertsev held business negotiations with Arkady Arianoff, Chairman of the Board of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Russia, and Oleg Prozorov, Director General of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Russia.

The negotiations focused on the implementation of joint investment projects in industry, agriculture, medicine and power engineering.

The head of the region briefed his interlocutors on the location, production potential and key indicators of the economic development in the Penza region, and defined the industry specialisation.

“Several large companies with foreign capital participation operate in our region. They enjoy the same preferences as Russian enterprises. They successfully develop and expand their businesses,” Ivan Belozertsev stated.

“The biomedical cluster works effectively in the Penza region. We manufacture stents for coronary vessels, intervertebral discs. The share of Penza enterprises in artificial cardiac valve production in the Russian market is 65%,” he specified.

The governor expressed interest in establishing joint ventures with foreign investors and increasing trade turnover of the Penza region with Belgium and Luxembourg.

The Chairman of the Board of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Russia confirmed the possibility of bilateral rapprochement and the desire of the European business to foster economic relations with the Penza region. He explained that documents provided in advance allowed identifying the key areas of future collaboration.

In addition, Arkady Arianoff indicated his willingness to assist in organising the Penza business mission and arranging visits of the delegation of European investors to the enterprises in the Penza region.

The working meeting concluded with the signing of the Memorandum on cooperation between the Penza region and the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in the Russian Federation with a view to strengthening and improving industrial, commercial, economic and financial ties, cooperating in tourism, transport, insurance, modern telecommunications and Internet technologies, mass media and in other fields.
