The head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported on the current state of the industry: “At present, there are more than 800 water bodies (ponds, reservoirs, etc.) in the Penza region. 358 water bodies have fish-rearing and fishing areas for business activity or amateur and sport fishing. Currently, 141 contracts for using fish-breeding plots for commercial fish farming have been concluded with regional entrepreneurs. According to the recent reports compiled by the sub-districts of the region, the overall production of commercial fish amounted to 110 tonnes in the 1st quarter of 2018 that is 2% higher compared to the same period in 2017”.
Andrey Burlakov emphasised that the Penza region is an attractive venue for the development of agro-tourism, as it has great potential for smooth outdoor recreation. The official focused on the intelligent design of leisure sites in line with the legal framework. “Recreation services for citizens, especially near the water bodies, must comply with the requirements of safety and health of tourists. The design of the water area should be consistent with the Water Code of the Russian Federation,” the minister of agriculture of the Penza region stressed.
