The Penza region is among leaders in milk productivity growth

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation summarised the results of dairy cattle breeding industry between January and May 2018.

According to the federal agency, milk production in agricultural organisations amounted to 6752.4 thousand tonnes, which is 4.4 per cent higher than in the same period last year. Over the first five months of the current year, the average milk yield per 1 cow from a dairy herd in agricultural organisations outside small business entities reached 2713 kilograms. This volume is by 94 kilograms (or 3.6%) greater than the corresponding level in 2017.

 The Russian Ministry of Agriculture listed the Penza region among the territorial entities, which generated the impressive growth in milk productivity during the reporting period. “The significant increase in milk productivity was achieved in the Penza region (+546 kg), the Republic of Crimea (+392 kg), the Amur region (+363 kg), the Kaluga region (+362 kg) and the Kurgan region (+347 kg),” the press office of the federal agency reported.
