As 14th of November is observed as World Diabetes Day, the date marking the birthday of insulin co-discoverer Dr. Frederick Banting, the medical students of Penza State University conduced an awareness campaign in the form of a quest at six quest-stations.
The station ‘Glucose meter’ showed how to measure the glucose level in blood, typical norms and deviations. The station ‘Body organs under attack’ illustrated which organs and in what way suffer with raised glucose levels. The station ‘Myth busters’ invited to answer the questions of the science quiz. The station ‘Diabetic kitchen’ showed the examples of suitable diet for people suffering from diabetes. More information and illustrations on the influence of lifestyle on the development of diabetes was presented at the station ‘Know how’.
The final contest was at the station ‘We are what we eat’, where the students teams were also awarded with souvenirs and information booklets.
