Head of the regional office of volunteers’ search for the remains of the fallen in military operaions Larisa Kazakova and member of the search team from Penza Evgenii Inaldiev have taken part in ‘Remembering the Fallen 2018’ meeting in Kaluga.
This year 250 searchers from 71 teams from different regions of Russia took part in the meeting, where they shared the results and discussed further plans.
During the meeting the teams discussed the questions of legal suppport of search operations, the development of the programme ‘Building and restoration of war memorials’, activities of school search teams, cataloguing the burials of the fallen.
Head of Penza searchers’ head office Larisa Kazakova handed the medal ‘For Courage’ to the relatives of the fallen soldier Savelii Yakushko, born in the Altai region in 1907. It was found in the area of extensive fighting of 1944 in Belarus by search teams from Penza in Gomel region in Belarus. While looking for the relatives of the fallen hero, the searchers found out that his family by coincidence originated from the Penza region, and moved to the Altai region in Siberia at the beginning of the 20th c.
The importance of the work of the searchers cannot be overestimated. Their findings help to shed the light on fates of the Russian heros, who had given their lives defending their country.
