Ivan Belozertsev visited Aleksey Latynov on Wednesday, May 8th , 2019.
Born in Penza region he was conscripted and sent into action after 5 months of training at Military Academy named after Dzerzhinskiy in Moscow. He was commanding a mortar regiment. When Soviet troops took Lvov, Aleksey Latynov was assigned the city commandant. Aleksey Nikitovich was awarded orders of the Red Star, Patriotic War of 2nd degree, Alexander Nevskiy, two orders of the Battle Red Banner, medals of Marshal Zhukov and “For the Victory over Germany”.
The Head of the region handed the hero of the anniversary a postcard from Vladimir Putin. The President of Russia congratulated Aleksey Nikitovich with the upcoming holidays – the birthday and the Victory Day.
“You have graduated from the major school of life, underwent sore trials of the war time and then selflessly restored the country from ruins. The great love for the Motherland and the responsibility for its present and future You are passing to generations to come” – written in the greetings.
The importance of preserving the historical memory was highlighted by the Governor.
“Yesterday I took part in the Dictation of Victory, - said Ivan Belozertsev. – I was very pleased to see that this event, devoted to monitor and obtain new knowledge about the history of our country, had attracted a great number of youth. Tomorrow within the Immortal Regiment we are going to walk along the streets of Penza with portraits of our relatives-warriors giving a tribute to the memory and respect of their deeds. It a great pride for all of us, the memory about the Great Victory unites several generations”.
The Governor congratulated a veteran of the Great Patriotic War with the 100th birthday
