On Monday, May 6th, 2019, the Governor Ivan Belozertsev held a meeting of the town planning council devoted to the reconstruction of the public garden and coinciding with the 75th anniversary of architectural institutions of Penza region.
Before the meeting the head of the regional executive power had observed an exhibition of architectural projects of recent years.
“In the scope of architecture Penza region has managed to preserve the continuity of ages, the unique image of an old provincial town. At the same time Penza’s architects are distinguished by their creativity in developing the environment, - emphasized Ivan Belozertsev. – Not only you complete projects in the regional center, but also you bring new design solutions to district centers and rural settlements. We shall continue this work every year to change the image of our region for the better”.
The garden with a draft name “Pionerskiy” is planned to be part of a uniform composition of Penza embracing the monument of Military and Labour Glory of Penza’s residents, Archangel Mikhail’s chapel and the “Zhuravli” public garden.
The architectural kernel of the public garden will be the “We are from Penza” stela in the form of the Banner of Victory. The cloth will have the names of heroes of war, labour, culture activists engraved and the memory of children and women of war immortalized. The sculptural composition will be erected instead of the fountain currently located in the garden.
According to the project, Pionerskaya street will become an entirely pedestrian one. Along the street it is planned to place military machinery in public view as an outdoor museum.
The garden will have new equipment: street lights, benches, trashcans, drainage systems, etc. On the edge of the garden from the side of Kommunisticheskaya street there will be a parking lot.
To develop design documentation for the project “Pionerskiy garden in Penza” the city signed a municipal contract worth 927 thousand rubles with “Architectural workshop of L.M. Khodos” on September 14th, 2018. These allocations are provided for in the budget of Penza for 2019. The approximate cost of the project is 67 million 504 thousand rubles.
“The proposal of war veterans and the architectural community of Penza to implement this project must find support among the city residents. Do not procrastinate this project, we need it” – stated the Head of the region.
In the course of subsequent project development he offered to ensure the availability of the garden for physically challenged citizens.
At the end of the meeting Ivan Belozertsev handed the “Honoured architect of Penza region” award, honorary diplomas and letters of gratitude of the Governor of Penza region.
