The meeting of the business program of the regional championship "Worldskills Russia" was held at the Penza Food Industry and Commerce College on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Before the event Ivan Belozertsev visited the the championship sites on the "Cookery" and "Confectionery" competences and talked with the champions of previous years.
"Last year, we took first place in the Penza Oblast, then went to the qualifying competitions, got into the final and eventually entered the top three in the national championship," College student Kristina Kosulina told the head of the region. "We have very good conditions for training: the equipment is of the same level as the one we used at the national championship. First-year students come to study with great desire and interest".
"It is very important for postsecondary institutions to have all the necessary modern equipment, so that the education can have a practical component," the Governor said. "I thank the management of the College, teachers and students for the Penza Oblast showing a high level of training at the professional championships every year. This requires a lot of work and creativity."
He noted that "WorldSkills Russia" championship, which is held in the Penza Oblast for the seventh time this year, is a good opportunity to demonstrate the achievements of the regional system of professional education, as well as to set guidelines for its further development.
"It is important that students of Penza colleges win such competitions, but it is even more important that young professionals come to work for enterprises in the region," stated Ivan Belozertsev.
In the framework of the national project "Education" last year in the Penza Oblast there were equipped 10 modern workshops, where college students work out their practical skills, and 10 more workshops will appear in the region this year. In 2019 25 students passed the state certification in the form of a demonstration exam at these sites. In 2020 there will be more than 100 people, and in 2021 – more than 800.
"Accordingly, the Penza Oblast needs more experts who can give a competent assessment of the demonstrated knowledge," the Governor emphasized. "I instruct the Penza Oblast Ministry of Education to organise training of at least 120 experts for the regional project 'Worldskills Russia' by the end of 2020."
He also stressed that the centres for conducting the demonstration exam are ready-made examination platforms for evaluating the qualifications of regional enterprises and organisations' personnel.
"The development of the material and technical base of our colleges means new opportunities for interaction between teachers and employers, new prospects for student career guidance and the development of the mentoring Institute. As a result, we must get responsible, highly qualified specialists who are aimed at further development and improvement of their skills," Ivan Belozertsev stated.
He instructed to work out the issue of holding qualifying competitions for participation in the regional championship "Skills of the Wise" for older people at enterprises and organisations of the Penza Oblast, as well as to establish a monetary incentive for participants from 2020.
