The signing ceremony of the agreement on mutual cooperation between the Penza region and the akimat of the West Kazakhstan region was held within the framework of the XIV Forum of interregional cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in Chelyabinsk.
The signatures under the agreement on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation were put by the Chairman of the Government of the Penza region Nikolai Simonov and the Akim of the West Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan Altai Kulginov on November 9, 2017.
The regions are expected to develop trade activities in the food and agricultural areas, cooperation in the fields of engineering, light industry and construction.
"We already have a positive experience of cooperation with Kazakhstan, and it is important for us to develop our relations. For us this is a strategic partner, cooperation with which makes up almost a third of the total volume of foreign trade turnover. We will develop mutually beneficial cooperation in priority areas," - Nikolai Simonov commented.
The Forum for Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan is held annually since 2003. Traditionally it is held in the border cities of the two countries.
