The meeting and the ceremony of extracting from the stele "Glory to the Heroes" capsules with Letters to the descendants took place in Penza near the monument "Rostock" on November 7, 2017.

The event was dedicated to a memorable date in the history of Russia - the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917.

The monument "Rostock" was created in Penza in honor of the military and labor feat of the Soviet people, symbolizes the growth and development of the city, region and country.

On the day of the solemn opening of the monument - on November 6, 1967, representatives of three generations of Penzaers laid a capsule with Letter to their descendants in the stele near Rostock. In 1977, the year of the 60th anniversary of the revolution, another message was sent to the future. Open the letters to descendants was intended in 2017, which was done.

Participants of the meeting were residents of the city of Penza - representatives of several generations, different political forces. Governor Ivan Belozertsev noted that all of them witnessed a historic event.

"We respect the merits of our predecessors, who have done a lot for the development of the Penza region. These people worked hard - they built factories and roads, opened kindergartens and schools. They wanted life on Earth to be successful. They have created what we are using today", - the head of the region reminded those present.

"Our duty is to preserve this heritage, protect it from shocks. The predecessors bequeathed to us to preserve our Motherland. It is important that we are united, together defending the interests of citizens of our country" - he stressed.

Two capsules were extracted from the niche in the wall of the stela, the texts of the Letters to the descendants of 1967 and 1977 were read at the rally. The texts say:

"Hello, our dear descendants! We offer you the hand of spiritual unity and kinship. In your affairs, we have gained immortality. We live in the beating of your heart, in the smiles of your children, in your dreams and thoughts ... We are calm for our future, we believe in the future, we believe in you".

After the solemn announcement of the epistles, historical evidence was handed over to the Penza State Museum of Local lore.
