During a working meeting at the Penza Oblast Government, the Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief and the Governor discussed the results of ensuring the safety of the population.
"It is important for us that you have visited Penza Oblast. The attention of the federal minister to issues of ensuring security in the region is support for what we are doing," noted Oleg Melnichenko.
The head of the region informed that the regional government maintains close interaction with the regional directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, which made it possible to overcome the challenges of the past year – two emergencies and nine socially significant incidents occurred in Penza Region.
The Governor separately reported on the coordinated work of all authorities in dealing with the consequences of the natural disaster that caused road drifts and power line breaks in 166 settlements in December, as well as the consequences of the derailment of freight cars in the Nikolsky District.
"We managed, in close cooperation with the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, to overcome this emergency situation. We restored power supply in the shortest possible time and fully eliminated all the consequences of the emergency on the railway," said Oleg Melnichenko.
The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry was also briefed on the coordinated actions of firefighters in combating the fire at CHP-1 – a critical infrastructure facility on which the life support of the regional center depends.
"Thank you for the work done and your attitude towards our employees. I am grateful for the service housing that was provided not long ago," emphasized Alexander Kurenkov.
By the decision of the head of the region, 12 apartments were transferred for official use to the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Penza Region. To carry out official tasks, fire backpacks, pressure hoses, bulletproof vests, and protective helmets were purchased. The Penza Region Government also provided assistance in repairing equipment involved in humanitarian operations.
