This indicator was announced at the board of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the completion of the agricultural year, in which the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of the region, Andrei Burlakov, took part.
The meeting of the College was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Alexander Tkachev, on Friday, December 15, 2017.
The main report at the event was made by Petr Chekmarev, Director of the Department of Plant Production, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. He noted the Penza region as the best region, which provided work on putting into circulation of temporarily unused agricultural land.
"Based on the results of the work done, the Penza region holds an honorable first place among all the subjects of the country," - that was announced at the board of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
"In 2017, we set ourselves the task - to return to the rotation of 50 thousand hectares of agricultural land. In fact, 57 thousand hectares of arable land have been put into circulation, including rustling of tree and shrub vegetation on lands with a total area of 13,000 hectares, " - said Governor Ivan Belozertsev.
"We intend to continue the work on returning fertile agricultural land in the next year. The task for 2018 is to introduce 45,000 hectares of unused land into the crop rotation, " - he added.
The region is also one of the top three subjects of the Federation in terms of sugar beet production growth. In 2017, the gross harvest of sugar beet was 2.3 million tons, a record figure for the region. For this indicator we are the second in the Volga Federal District.
