The working meeting was held within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, 25 May 2018.
The governor highlighted great prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Nowadays, Russian and Israeli businesses are working to find common ground in their economic activities, create joint ventures, and supply products,” he noted.
The head of the region focused on the companies of the biomedical cluster.
“We manufacture stents for coronary vessels, and two of three stents are Penza-made. We produce cardiac valves, we deliver them to the healthcare systems in Russia, the CIS countries and Western Europe. We manufacture intervertebral discs. We are able to reach mutual understand in this area,” he said.
In addition, Ivan Belozertsev outlined the relevance of health resort services in the region and good facilities for organising rehabilitation of patients in partnership with Israeli companies.
Harry Koren expressed interest in the operation of the biomedical cluster.
“We chose healthcare as one of the most promising areas of work in Russia,” he commented.
Penza will host the Inter-Regional Forum of Medical Devices Manufacturers InnoMed-2018 in June.
The governor invited the Ambassador of the State of Israel to visit this event and further explore the potential of Penza companies.
The parties identified agriculture as another track for joint work. In particular, they mentioned dairy cattle husbandry.
“Our meetings with Vladimir Putin always have an economic agenda. In agriculture, two or three years ago, it was decided to focus on dairy farming. Then we agreed to launch a pilot project in some regions. In the next couple of months the Russian government will determine these regions,” Harry Koren remarked.
The IT cluster is also of particular interest to Israeli partners.
The Ambassador of the State of Israel reported that Israel regularly holds exhibitions and fairs in the field of information technology. He also invited Penza companies to participate in one of the nearest events.
“We are ready to help each region. The conference on national security and cyber security will take place in November. If your colleagues are interested in it, we will send them necessary materials,” he proposed.
