On 27 June 2018, Penza Theological Seminary hosted the meeting of the Council for Interaction with Religious Associations to the Government of the Penza Region. The session was chaired by Vasily Trokhin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Penza region.
The meeting was attended by representatives of regional government authorities, religious organisations, scientific community, and law enforcement agencies.
Prior to the session, Metropolitan Seraphim of Penza and Nizhny Lomov, Head of the Penza Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Church, conducted a tour of Penza Theological Seminary. Participants of the meeting got acquainted with teaching and learning process in the educational organisation and explored its temple, classrooms, library, dining room, and assembly hall.
In his welcoming speech, Vasily Trokhin emphasised: “Particular attention should be devoted to work with youth and extracurricular activities of children and adolescents. From an early age, young people use the Internet and communicate through social networks, where they receive information, which is frequently distorted. It is important to develop the system of Sunday schools, patriotic clubs, to educate young people according to the ideas of patriotism. This is our major joint objective”.
In their speeches, religious officials representing different faiths shared the experience of building an education system in religious institutions. The issue of compliance with the Russian Federation legislation by religious organisations was also considered at the Council meeting.
