The summer school for talented teenagers was officially opened on July 2nd, 2018, in the School of Olympic Reserve.

 The school engages the winners and runners-up of regional and national competitions and will work for 10 days. A hundred and ten school children from Mordovia, Penza, Saratov and Ulyanovsk regions, and Sevastopol are attending this school this year.

 Eight ‘youth innovative businesses’ work in ‘TeenGrad’, they span the variety of spheres: engineering, 3-D modelling, software design, video design, radio electronics, marketing and PR, journalism. Teenagers will develop a set of projects – the backpack-charger, glasses with navigation system, presents search application, electro-bike and electro-skating board, as well as some others.

 The governor Ivan Belozertsev noted that the summer school gathers young people who show outstanding creativity and initiative.

 ‘We understand that our task at the moment is to create such platforms that will allow you to exchange ideas and opinions, receive guidance from your supervisors in developing your projects and move further on’, said Ivan Belozertsev.

 He also stressed the high demand for young specialists.

  ‘Without innovative engineering or implementation of breakthrough ideas Russia is unable to compete with the western world. That is why we have high hopes for you, you are smart and forward-looking young people’, added the governor.

 The governor also awarded the members of the youth club ‘Innovator’ for the management of the programme for involving the children and youth into innovative activities ‘1000-list-nick’.

 ‘It is crucial to support the youth’s creative impulses in various spheres and we will assist them by organizing such events,’ stressed Ivan Belozertsev.

 Anna Kuznetsova, Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, asked the teenagers about what, in their opinion, was necessary to achieve positive results. To those characteristics listed by the children – determination, dream, belief in success, she added some more:
‘I would like to wish you, in the first place, being true to what you’ve chosen. Secondly, find a good supervisor who will guide you. And I also wish you to become a kind of beacons for your friends and peers, because you are needed today, and you are needed for the future. And our governor is right in supporting these projects. It is for us to make it possible so that you have everything to help you achieve your dreams and secure new victories’, she said.

 Anna Kuznetsova awarded the tutors and management for their professionalism and outstanding personal contribution into the development of children and youth research and creativity.

 The results of the summer school activities will be presented at the concluding exhibition, where they can be evaluated by SMEs representatives, potential investors, government officials, experts in innovation, research and education.

 Summing up, Ivan Belozertsev called ‘TeenGrad’ an effective instrument for developing young talents, expanding their horizons and realizing their potential.

 ‘It is vital for further development of a child’s personality. I am convinced that the time gap between an idea and its implementation will become shorter here’, he concluded.

 Anna Kuznetsova shared her impressions from a visit to the summer school:
‘It is a place where kids have brought their ideas to. It is important that their dreams become actual steps on the way to success. When I entered the building, I met a robot created by the children. This is fantastic! We have to have more projects of this kind, so that children, no matter where they live, can have an opportunity to implement their ideas and be heard.’
