The "Culture Is Us!" all-Russian festival-competition of amateur creative groups, established and held by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the V. Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art as part of the "Culture" national project has finished in Moscow.
The festival brought together 255 creative teams from all over Russia. 72 theatres took part in the "Theatre Groups" category. They presented dramatic, musical and puppet shows based on the works of A. Chekhov, A. Ostrovsky, N. Gogol and other authors of Russian classics.
After the viewing 18 theatres from all federal districts got to the second stage. The jury noted the high level of performances in the Siberian, Central, Ural and Volga Federal Districts. The Penza Oblast was represented by the Arlekin theatre studio from Zarechny.
The world-famous stage of the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre hosted Natalia Kuchishkina's students showing an excerpt from the play "Punishment without Crime" based on F. Dostoevsky's works (directed by Natalia Kuchishkina, plastic art by Olga Trishkina).
In addition to the performance, the children took part in a creative meeting with Viktor Ryzhakov, who is Moscow Sovremennik Theatre artistic director and professor at the Moscow Art Theatre School, and they also watched the play Thaw (directed by V. Ryzhakov) at the Sovremennik Theatre.
The jury of the festival-competition awarded the Arlekin theatre studio a first class diploma. In total, 11 amateur theatres from Saint Petersburg, Sevastopol, as well as the Kemerovo, Voronezh, Chelyabinsk Oblasts, Kamchatka territory, Krasnodar territory, the Komi Republic, the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, and the Udmurt Republic received first class diplomas.
The winners were amateur theatres of the Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Ryazan, Yaroslavl Oblasts, Khabarovsk territory, KhMAD – Yugra and Karachay-Cherkessia.
