Culture 26.11.2020

The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education of Russia implement the «Culture for Schoolchildren» interdepartmental cultural and educational project in order to make children familiar with the rich culture of our country. The project uses accessible, effective and interesting formats for obtaining knowledge, including interactive and digital technologies.

The project uses the successful experience of the regions including the Penza Oblast. Back in 2017, Oleg Yagov, deputy head of the Penza Oblast government, presented to the Federation Council the "Concept of Cultural Education of Children and Youth of the Penza Oblast", in which educational institutions pay great attention to the development of a spiritual, moral, creative and socially responsible personality based on making students familiar with the cultural and historical heritage of their native land.

"Our initiative was highly appreciated by Valentina Matviyenko, chairman of the Federation Council, and recommended for implementation in Russian regions. Subsequently, the components of the concept, such as "Cultural Saturday" and "Cultural Palette of the 58th Region", were used in the federal project, becoming one of its events, namely "Kultpokhod"," said Oleg Yagov.

Students are offered both printed and electronic versions of the "Cultural Diary", which provides an opportunity to record impressions from lessons and visits to sights of historical and cultural heritage. Programmes for extracurricular activities, as well as a mechanism for creating a specialised website are offered to help teachers.

Now every student in Russia will have a "Schoolchild's Cultural Diary" developed in the Penza Oblast.

Note: Since September 2019, the Penza Oblast has been among 11 pilot regions involved in the implementation of the "Culture for Schoolchildren" federal project and has become one of the top 5 regions. Since September 1, 2020, the "Culture for Schoolchildren" project has been launched in 85 administrative units of the Russian Federation.
