The RF Ministry of Culture has identified the most significant events on the portal "Culture.RF" within the national project "Culture" for 2023.
39 cultural events were selected from a variety of applications - dramatic performances, operas, ballets, excursions, and lectures. These events included the performance of the Penza Regional Drama Theater "Dead Souls" based on the play by Mikhail Bulgakov, created based on a poem by Nikolai Gogol.
The play was staged in November 2021 by director Kirill Zaborikhin, the production was funded with a grant from the RF Government. The main role of Pavel Ivanovich Chichikov is played by the artistic director of the theater, Honored Artist of Russia Sergey Kazakov.
Currently, "Dead Souls" is one of the most popular productions of the Penza Drama Theater. The performance is invariably sold out, and at the Masquerade theater festival in November 2021 it became the winner in three nominations at once - best performance, best scenography, and best male role.
The broadcast of the performance directly from the theater hall is scheduled for May 17, 2023. It will be held on the portal of the humanitarian educational project "Culture.RF".
