On July 1, 2023, the All-Russian Lermontov Poetry Festival was held for the 52nd time at the Tarkhany State Museum.
The event was opened by a ceremony of laying flowers at the grave of Mikhail Lermontov. First Deputy Chairman of the Penza Government Oleg Yagov, Legislative Assembly deputy Aleksandr Akimov, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Penza Oblast Sergey Bychkov, and many honorary guests took part in the event.
In 2023 Russian has been declared the language of interethnic communication in the CIS countries, so the 52nd literary meeting in Tarkhany was dedicated to the great and mighty Russian language -- the immaterial treasure of the nation accumulated over the centuries.
In connection with the theme, the Lermontov Prizes in 2023 were awarded to people whose creativity is marked by morality, love for their native language and Russia.
In the nomination "For Achievements in Literary Work that Received Public Recognition", Tatiana Avdeyeva (Zarechny, Penza Oblast) was awarded a laureate diploma and a cash prize for the book of poems "Embracing the City".
In the same nomination, Nikolai Lukyanovich (Zelenograd, Moscow Oblast) was awarded a laureate diploma and a cash prize for the book "Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov. Secrets and Riddles of the Military Service of a Russian officer".
In the nomination for contribution to cultural and educational activities, the creative group of librarians of the Penza Regional Library for Children and Youth was awarded with a laureate diploma and a cash prize for the implementation of the project "X International Day of Lermontov Poetry in Libraries", headed by Marina Rusakova.
The Lermontov Prize was awarded to Tatiana Filatova (Ulyanovsk) for the book "What the Forest Is Silent About".
The name of M.Y. Lermontov unites creative people working in different types of art, his word inspires writers, artists, theater-goers, and musicians. Maksim Zamshev, Editor-in-chief of Literaturnaya Gazeta, Oleg Pogudin, People's Artist of Russia, theater and film actor; film director and author-performer Sergey Makhovikov; journalist, political commentator, artistic director of the Andrei Dementiev Poetry House, Anna Pugach, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation; and Zara, Honored Artist of Russia, performed on the stage at the Green Theater.
Sergey Shaulov, head of the department of the M. Y. Lermontov House Museum, and Arseniy Babenkov, director of the Srednevolzhsky branch of Rossiyskaya Gazeta, also addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
The program of the festival was supplemented by exhibitions and numerous interactive platforms that worked on the territory of the museum (an equestrian carousel, games of Lermontov time, modeling toys, reading poetry, competition for knitting sheaves, harnessing and unharnessing horses, game of chess etc.) The ensembles "Kazatskaya Zastava", "Premiera”, and "Stargorod" performed for the visitors.
For the first time, the major museums of the region united at the Lermontov festival and presented their sites:
Association of Literary Museums (Penza Literary Museum, V. G. Belinsky Museum, A.N. Radishchev Museum, A.I. Kuprin Museum), Penza K. A. Savitsky Art Gallery, Penza Museum of Local Lore, and Poim Historical and Architectural Museum. Museum specialists organized thematic exhibitions, photo zones, and offered cultural and educational quizzes.
More than 150 people used the transfer from Penza, organized by the regional government. In total, the 52nd All-Russian Lermontov Poetry Festival was attended by about 10 thousand guests from Penza and the Penza Oblast, as well as other regions of the country.
