Russian House in Baku, represented by Director Irek Zinnurov and Chairman of the Association of Teachers of Russian-speaking Educational Institutions of Azerbaijan, coordinator of educational programs of the Russian House in Baku Lyubov Yakunina, the program dedicated to the 210th anniversary of M.Y. Lermontov, was organized with the assistance of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The events took place at various venues, including the Russian House, and the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture.
Students of Russian-speaking schools, students of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University, Baku State University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, and members of the public were able to get acquainted with the exhibition "Tarkhany in the XXI century", feel the atmosphere of the Russian estate and understand what the museum is doing today. A virtual tour and a presentation film about Tarkhany gave the opportunity to see the expositions and learn about the significance of the place where M.Y. Lermontov spent his childhood and adolescence. Also, the staff of the Tarkhany museum held master classes on making a traditional Tarkhany patchwork doll and discussed with schoolchildren the oriental fairy tale "Ashik-Kerib", recorded by M.Y. Lermontov in 1837. The children were happy to translate it, explain the meanings of some lines, and answer questions about the plot of the fairy tale.
Thanks to all those gathered, it was obvious that the great Russian poet is loved and revered in Azerbaijan. Schoolchildren demonstrated their knowledge of the poet's work by reciting poems by Mikhail Lermontov, and professional singers performed songs based on his poems.
"Brilliant personalities are brilliant because they are consonant not only with people of different generations, but also with different centuries. Reading Lermontov, thinking, reflecting on his fate, you really feel how modern he is and how much he is relevant today," said poet and journalist Alina Talibova.
Representatives of the Tarkhany Museum visited the city of Kusary, where the poet stayed during his Caucasian journeys. Currently, a memorial plaque to M.Y. Lermontov is installed here. Before the start of the events, all those gathered laid flowers in tribute to the genius. It is noteworthy that during the ceremony it began to rain, as it often happens in Tarkhany during the All-Russian Lermontov day.
