The 40th Kuprin Literary Festival took place in the village of Narovchat, which has been gathering fans of the outstanding Russian classic's talent every year since 1985.
"Dear friends, I want to congratulate all the guests of the Kuprin holiday, which is taking place on the land that is rightfully considered the birthplace of the writer. This is the place where he lived in childhood, which he loved, so it seems symbolic to me that this is where we hold our wonderful literary festival," Oleg Melnichenko stated.
"We know Kuprin as a writer, as an officer, as a citizen of our great Russia, whom Kuprin selflessly loved and dedicated his work, and wanted us to love our country too," Oleg Melnichenko added. "His works will inspire not only writers, but also all our citizens to do worthy deeds for the benefit of their country for many years to come."
On the writer's birthday, the results of the 25th literary creative competition "Garnet Bracelet" were summed up. This year, more than 100 works from various regions of Russia and abroad in two nominations (Short Story and Design) were sent to the Association of State Literary and Memorial Museums of the Penza Oblast.
The Governor awarded the winners with prizes and diplomas.
Muscovite Aleksandr Orlov was recognized as the best in the Short Story category, and Maria Kotsaryova from Simferopol was recognized best in the Design category.
The special guest of the holiday was actor and director Andrei Sokolov, who performed for the guests and residents of Narovchat with his creative team.
