A ceremonial program was held in honor of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus.
The concert featured top Belarusian performers. From the Russian side, a highlight was the performance by the renowned M.E. Pyatnitsky Russian Folk Choir.
Sharing the stage with leading Russian and Belarusian artists were top ensembles from the Penza Oblast: the Governor’s Symphony Chapel, Honored Artist of the Penza Oblast Marta Serebryakova, the “Venzelya” Folk Dance Ensemble (an honored collective of Russian folk art), and Anastasia Legoshina, soloist of the “Miryane” Russian ethnic music ensemble.
"Thanks to the interest shown by our Belarusian colleagues in including Penza’s cultural component in the program, we were able to see our ensembles on the grand stage today—for them, this is a landmark performance," emphasized Oleg Melnichenko. "It’s a great honor to perform on the main stage of the Palace of the Republic. It’s like performing at the Kremlin, i.e., only a select few are invited. This is true recognition of our Penza performers."
On the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, Penza’s creative collectives performed not only at the Palace of the Republic. There was also a concert at Minsk’s Town Hall Square, alongside a fair featuring Penza-made goods. In total, 200 Penza artists showcased their talents on various stages across the capital that day.
The cultural program of Penza Oblast Days also includes concerts in other Belarusian cities.
“Tomorrow we’re meeting in Mogilev, and the day after there will be a major concert there,” Oleg Melnichenko informed Belarusian journalists. “Then we’ll head to Brest.”
The concerts in Mogilev and Brest will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
