The Penza Planetarium has officially been admitted to the Association of Cosmonautics Museums (AMKOS). The public organization, established in 1989, unites leading museums, planetariums, and space-oriented exhibition centers, coordinates efforts to preserve historical and cultural heritage, and promotes the achievements of Russian and global cosmonautics.
The Association facilitates the exchange of experience among museums from different regions of the country, the replenishment and renewal of exhibitions, and participation in federal and international forums, exhibitions, and conferences.
The head of the institution, Ekaterina Mikhailova, noted that the planetarium's entry into the Association is particularly significant as it occurs in the year marking the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight.
"This opens up opportunities for us to participate in joint projects, and replenishing the exhibition will also become easier. Negotiations are currently underway for the exchange of exhibitions from different cosmonautics museums, meaning we anticipate a traveling exhibition from another museum," shared the Director of the Penza Planetarium.
Specialists note that the institution is equipped with state-of-the-art and unique equipment, including a "Planetarium" device with two spheres projecting the stars of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
"This is one of the region's landmarks. I am confident that with new opportunities, the planetarium will develop many new projects of interest to residents and guests of Penza Oblast," noted Governor Oleg Melnichenko.
It is worth recalling that the Penza Planetarium reopened its doors to visitors in 2023 following reconstruction under the national project "Culture," which was succeeded by the national project "Family." Thanks to federal support, the institution was also equipped with modern technology.
