The topic “Green brand. Made in Russia: prospects in the global commodity market” was discussed at a plenary session opened by Dmitriy Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister, with his speech, which took place in Moscow, on Wednesday, October 9th, 2019.
I International Agricultural Forum was held within the Week of Agriculture, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and devoted to the development of organic and eco goods production.
The main topics were new trends in food production, processing and preparing technologies, adoption of digital services in the Russian agro-industrial complex, protection, and promotion of regional brands in Russian and abroad, development of the export potential of the Russian agro-industrial complex, as well as relations between the state and farmers.
Addressing the participants of the plenary session, the head of the Russian cabinet of ministers specifies that Russia possessed unique natural resources, including ones for wealthy agriculture.
“We have 20% of the world fresh-water reserves, that is the fifth part, 9% of the global arable soils and around 60% of the world black soil reserves”, reminded Dmitriy Medvedev.
“And of course, for our country, the agricultural sector is historically of the priorities. It is our principled stand. We are investing considerable funds in agricultural complex development. Also because of this support – in 2019 in totals 308 billion rubles – the agro-industrial complex has been demonstrating significant progress in recent years. This year is not an exception”, he stated.
The Head of the Russian Government called the volume of threshed grains in the country – 115 million tons. He paid attention to the growing agricultural products and commodities export. According to the last year’s results, Russia is the world’s leader in wheat shipments abroad – about 44 million tonsПо итогам прошлого года.
Commenting on the topics of the forum, Governor Ivan Belozertsev emphasized the demand for high-quality eco-products boosted the opportunities of Penza region in the agro-industrial field.
“Health nutrition is an important component and a good incentive to develop our agricultural productions. Most of them rely on organic products, without chemicals, healthy, and not harmful ”, ascertained the Head of the regional executive power.
“Today, many people start thinking about the culture of eating, the quality of goods influencing health. I am confident that Penza’s agricultural producers fit into the new trend very well. They are capable of meeting the required quality ”, he highlighted.
