The President of the Republic of Belarus and the head of the Penza Oblast discussed issues of cooperation in Minsk on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
Oleg Melnichenko thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko for the hospitality and the opportunity to visit industrial, social and cultural facilities of interest to the Penza Oblast, as well as for organising business negotiations of the region's entrepreneurs with Belarusian business partners.
"I used to visit Belarus often when I worked in the Federation Council of the RF Federal Assembly. Together with colleagues from the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, I have participated in the organisation of forums of our countries' regions," Oleg Melnichenko said.
"Our common priorities include the development of a common market, ensuring food security and uninterrupted operation of industrial enterprises, both large, systemically important ones, medium and small to provide the population with high-quality and competitive products in sufficient quantity," the governor added.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the Penza Oblast plays a special role in the relations between Belarus and other Russian regions.
"The key direction for us is trade and investment. That's the main thing. We will develop in this direction. Though I don't rule out the other ones like cultural and humanitarian cooperation and so on - it goes without saying. We are kin peoples, absolutely similar to each other," the Belarusian leader stated.
According to Lukashenko, in 2021 the Belarusian trade turnover with the Penza Oblast amounted to about 100 million US dollars.
He noted that Belarus has modern technologies in agriculture and is always ready to share its experience and best practices.
"Cooperation between agricultural enterprises, training of personnel for agriculture, technologies in seed production and animal husbandry," he said.
During the meeting, the politicians outlined the following joint areas of work: the construction and modernisation of housing, road, municipal, transport and industrial infrastructure.
To do this, it is necessary to increase production and import substitution, to establish mutual Russian-Belarusian supplies of parts and components and to organise joint productions.
