Guided by the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Melnichenko and Aleksandr Subbotin consolidated cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, agriculture and industry, science and culture, sports and tourism. The ceremony took place on the site of the IX Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus in Grodno, on Friday, July 1, 2022.
The sides stressed the desire to strengthen joint work in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres, explained that they see the cooperation as equal and mutually beneficial, having a long-term and sustainable character.
"We are deepening cooperation with Belarus. Five agreements have already been signed between the Penza Oblast and the regions of the Republic, and today with the Vitebsk Oblast. We have concrete proposals for Vitebsk in terms of economic integration. This area is interesting to us – textile products, shoes are produced there, a serious machine-building cluster is working, so we certainly have a subject of mutual cooperation," Oleg Melnichenko commented.
"For our part, we can offer radio electronics, resistors, as well as everything related to microsurgery, and artificial valves. Now the Americans are leaving our market, and we have a great opportunity to become leaders in the production of artificial valves, various manipulators for cardiac surgery, suture materials," the governor of the Penza Oblast specified.
Under the new Agreement, Penza and Vitebsk Oblasts will also be able to develop and implement joint programmes and action plans to facilitate the participation of economic entities in fairs and exhibitions held by the parties and to exchange information in various areas.
