Oleg Melnichenko stated this during a visit to the facilities of the Damate Group in the Kolyshlei district, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
As of the current date, farmers of the region have harvested grain and leguminous crops from an area of 769.5 thousand hectares. This is 90% of the plan.
"We have collected over 3 million tons of grain, we have the conditions to maintain a record harvest," the head of the Penza Oblast stressed.
In terms of grain and leguminous yields, the region ranks 1st in the Volga Federal District. At the same time, the harvesting campaign has not yet been completed.
In the entire history of the Penza Oblast, the gross grain harvest only exceeded 3 million tons three times. This was in 1973, 1974 and 2020. And in Soviet times, about 80% of the entire arable land was sown with grain.
In 2022, the sown area of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 858.4 thousand hectares, which is only 55% of the total cultivated land. It is possible to achieve more grain from a smaller area due to the introduction of modern crop cultivation technologies.
The Governor inspected the feed mill under construction and the reconstructed Kolyshley Elevator of the Damate Group. He positively assessed the expansion of the agricultural holding's production capacity, which will contribute to the growth of storage and processing of agricultural products.
Currently, grain receiving enterprises and elevators in the region are ready for operation. In total, 22 elevators and grain receiving enterprises with a total capacity of 1,691,7 thousand tons of one-time grain storage operate in the region.
Grain warehouses with a total storage capacity of over 1.6 million tons are also operating in the region.
Grain dryers, laboratories, separators for grain processing, mobile transport equipment, scales and car loaders are 100% ready.
