The meeting took place during the visit of the Penza delegation to the Republic of Uzbekistan on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
"This is an important step in the rapprochement of the two regions. We are ready to work with the Tashkent Oblast, and develop economic and cultural ties," the governor said.
"Some Penza companies are looking forward to working in Uzbekistan," he stressed. – One of our enterprises has already signed a contract."
Oleg Melnichenko noted that the Penza Oblast has great potential for establishing effective cooperation in many industries.
"We have developed industry, agriculture, strong cultural traditions, and have big plans for the development of tourism," he added.
Zoir Mirzayev confirmed his readiness for further cooperation. He said that the Tashkent Oblast occupies a leading position in Uzbekistan in terms of industrial production. They have 10 special economic zones that provide preferences for business.
Oleg Melnichenko invited Zoir Mirzayev and the delegation of the Tashkent region to visit Penza and take part in the celebration of Victory Day on May 9, 2023.  Oleg Melnichenko proposed to the khokim of the Tashkent Oblast to organize joint cultural events.
"I am very pleased to receive this invitation," said Zoir Mirzayev. "I know the Penza Oblast as a region with developed culture and rich historical heritage. I am sure that the potential of the Penza and Tashkent Oblasts will serve as a foundation for further cooperation in various fields."
