The Governor's working meeting with the General Director of Shanghai Electric Group, Shi Junpeng, took place in Beijing as part of the visit of the Penza delegation to China.
The governor noted the importance of expanding contacts with reliable and responsible foreign partners acting as locomotives of the global economy, including Shanghai Electric Group. He highlighted the unique geographical location of the Penza Oblast and its transport accessibility, which open up unique opportunities for logistics.
"We highly appreciate your decision to invest in the development of an agro-industrial cluster in our region," the governor stressed. - Today the Penza Oblast fully provides itself with food. The further goal is deep processing and export. In January-August 2023, the volume of agricultural products shipped to China from the Penza Oblast increased almost 2.5 times. We have great potential in this area, and we intend to develop it further, including with the involvement of foreign partners."
The Agro-Industrial Cluster in the Penza Oblast is included in the list of significant projects of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission on Investment Cooperation. As part of the signed protocol of intent, it is planned to build an oil extraction plant and a mushroom complex for growing oyster mushrooms in our region.
"I am convinced that the implementation of our protocol will be beneficial to both sides and will contribute to the further development of the agro-industrial sector," Oleg Melnichenko stated.
The General Director of Shanghai Electric Group, Shi Junpeng, also proposed another project for implementation — the environmentally friendly production of methanol from the waste of furniture and woodworking production.
"We are ready to consider this proposal. This actually means the creation of a new industry in the region," the governor noted, instructing to appoint those responsible for the detailed study of the project. -The Penza Oblast is interested in new areas of cooperation."
