79 Russian-made buses of large, medium and small capacity were transferred to 12 transport companies.
The new vehicles were purchased as part of a renewal project initiated by the President of the Russian Federation with funds from a special treasury loan.
"I would like to express my gratitude to our President for having developed this program, and for having the opportunity to actively participate in it," the governor stressed. "We will supply equipment for servicing municipal and inter-municipal routes in small towns and rural areas."
30 buses were transferred to the Kuznetsk passenger transport enterprise, and 10 to Zarechny. Kamensky district received 8 vehicles, Nikolsky district got 6, Nizhnelomovsky and Belinsky districts received 5 vehicles each. 3 buses were sent to Bashmakovsky, Lopatinsky, Shemysheysky and Zemetchinsky districts, 2 to Spassky, and 1 to Vadinsky district.
"We have identified regular routes where the replacement of vehicles is needed first of all, guided, among other things, by citizens' appeals," Oleg Melnichenko stated. The new transport system will improve the quality and regularity of transportation. I hope that people will be satisfied. But we are not going to stop there. We will continue to work on updating our public transport."
The head of the region reminded that Penza will receive 94 new trolleybuses; 85 units have already been delivered, 64 have been accepted by transport companies, and the rest are undergoing the acceptance process.
"We can say with pride that the last time the public transport in Penza was updated on such a scale was during the Soviet era, so we should be optimistic about the future," the governor stressed. "Our President Vladimir Putin has announced a new program for the development of public transport, and our region will also be included in it."
