Electrical Engineering Cluster to Be Created in Penza Oblast

A document on cooperation between the Penza Oblast, Specialized Developer "Zavodskoy Kvartal" and the Chinese multinational Company TCL was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The document was signed by Governor Oleg Melnichenko and Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Zavodskoy Kvartal" Sergey Abramov.

Oleg Melnichenko stressed that the People's Republic of China is the most important foreign trade partner for the Penza Oblast.

"We are increasing trade turnover with China, expanding industrial cooperation, and strengthening ties in the scientific and cultural spheres," Oleg Melnichenko stated. The signing of a memorandum on the construction of an electrical equipment technopark is another area of our cooperation. We will create an electrical engineering cluster."

TCL Corporation is a Chinese multinational company that designs and manufactures televisions, mobile phones, climate and home appliances, and telecommunications equipment. It is one of the technological leaders in various areas of production from smart displays and high-quality audio equipment to artificial intelligence technologies, the Internet of Things, and ultra-high-speed wireless communication.

The company employs more than 75,000 people and has opened more than 40 sales offices worldwide. TCL Corporation has 23 research and development centers, owning 20 production bases.

It is planned to create a technopark for the production of electrical equipment in Penza as part of the "Zavodskoy Kvartal" integrated development project. It will be a competence center that trains specialists in the following areas: electrical engineering and equipment, electronics, mobile robotics, information cable networks, Internet of Things, prototyping, network and system administration, and cybersecurity.

Also, the use of high-tech equipment and alternative power sources is provided for participation in integrated territorial development projects.

The Governor discussed with Sergey Abramov the implementation of a project that combines residential buildings, social and cultural facilities and a production cluster.

"I think this is a very convenient solution for Penza residents," said Oleg Melnichenko.
