The Governor was presented with new products of the Penza dairy plant, including lactose-free goods.

"The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko raised the issue of organizing Russia's own production of healthy baby food. Taking into account the fact that many foreign companies have now left the market, we should take advantage of the situation and replace imports with high – quality products of Russian, and best of all, our Penza production," Oleg Melnichenko emphasized.

In the modern Russian specialty food market, only about 1% of the total volume is accounted for by domestic producers, 3% by Belarusian enterprises, and more than 96% is imported by foreign companies.

According to Rashid Khayrov, the founder of Molkom, the company's product range includes not only lactose-free, but also high-protein, obesity and allergy prevention goods.

Roman Kalentyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of the Penza Oblast, noted that due to the work of large agricultural enterprises in the region, the volume of milk production exceeds the volume of its consumption, so there is a significant resource for the manufacturing of children's dairy goods.

"Molkom and Penza Oblast agreed to produce high - quality baby food," Oleg Melnichenko summed up.

The Governor instructed to consider options for supplying specialized dairy products to schools and kindergartens in the region.

"Children should be fed only high-quality products, especially once we have launched such production in the region," he stated.

Yulia Lazutkina, Federation Council member, also raised the issue of dry infant formula production.

"I am the head of the working group created in the Federation Council on the production of high-quality baby food. There is interaction between the authorities, dairy producers, and the expert community, and we are studying all the relevant issues. The production of dry mixes would be a huge plus for the Penza Oblast, " the senator suggested.
