On September 13, the International Economic Cooperation Forum started in the capital of the Republic of Belarus, which is timed to match the 957th anniversary of the city of Minsk.
The forum brought together representatives of 28 countries, and 22 Russian regions. Penza Oblast is represented by Vice-Governor Sergei Fedotov, and Minister of Culture and Tourism Sergei Bychkov.
At the plenary session, Sergei Fedotov made a report on trade, economic and cultural cooperation between the Penza Oblast and the regions of Belarus.
"Governor Oleg Melnichenko discussed issues of cooperation between the Penza Oblast and the Republic of Belarus personally with the head of state in Minsk in 2022. The support of Aleksandr Lukashenko is felt in all ongoing projects," the vice-governor said.
"We intend to further develop cooperation, given that it largely serves as the basis for the development of the Union State, which, as our presidents note, contributes to the socio–economic stability of Russia and Belarus," he added.
The Penza delegation also held a meeting with First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Nadezhda Lazarevich. As part of the Minsk City Day, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Government of the Penza Oblast. This step will expand and strengthen the already established cooperation. Earlier, agreements were signed with all regions of the republic: Minsk, Gomel, Mogilev, Brest, Vitebsk and Grodno. Several inter-municipal agreements were also reached.
