The working group on the Penza delegation was led by Sergey Fedotov, Vice Governor of the region. On the Belarusian side, Pyotr Parkhomchik, Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, headed the group.
Vice Governor Sergey Fedotov reported that the parties had made significant progress in almost all areas of cooperation. He emphasized that Belarus remains a priority strategic partner for the Penza Oblast in international trade and economic relations. Over the first nine months of 2024, foreign trade turnover has increased by more than 30%, with exports and imports remaining in balance.
We are actively developing industrial cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, especially in sectors such as machine tool manufacturing, automotive, woodworking and furniture production. The vice governor emphasized that purchases of equipment in Belarus are continuing for road organizations, municipal utilities and agriculture in the region.
The Penza Oblast, in particular, has acquired 94 trolleybuses and utility equipment for three municipalities, and contracts have been signed for the supply of over Belarus-made 100 elevators. Additionally, contracts have been finalized for the delivery of high-tech medical products, including artificial heart valves, from Penza to medical facilities in Belarus.
"We also plan to expand cooperation in instrument engineering, light industry and manufacturing," said Sergey Fedotov. "We propose to work on the issue of increasing the supply of light industrial products to the Penza Oblast, including textiles and components for upholstered furniture production."
At the same time, Belarusian colleagues were invited to next year's military-patriotic training camp of the Volga Federal District "Guardsman". The decision to invite schoolchildren from the republic was made by Governor Oleg Melnichenko.
Additionally, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we propose holding Days of the Penza Oblast in the republic.
"We propose to organize events in Brest, Mogilev, and Minsk in April 2025, including performances by creative teams and exhibitions of folk crafts from the Penza Oblast. Presentations of products from Penza companies will also be held at various venues in Belarus," said Sergey Fedotov.
