New Damate Site to Provide 5% Increase in Turkey Production – Oleg Melnichenko
Economy 18.12.2024
Oleg Melnichenko took part in the grand opening of a new production facility in the village of Bolshaya Elan, Penza Oblast.
Damate Group of Companies has completed the construction of the first of two poultry breeding units within the 64 poultry houses project (2 million turkeys). The first stage has been commissioned, and a batch of birds has already been delivered.
"When the site is fully operational, it will provide about a 5 percent increase in turkey meat production in the country," the governor stressed. The turkey project, which was launched in our region 12 years ago almost from scratch, is very important for the Penza Oblast, and now in the near future we will definitely produce almost half of all turkey meat in the Russian Federation. I think this is a serious success."
"We supported the development of production sites, helped with the creation of infrastructure, and reimbursed part of the equipment costs," he added. But this support pays off. Damate Group is a powerful driver of the agricultural industry in our region. It includes poultry farms, meat processing plants, acreage, grain elevators, new housing for employees, and taxes that go to roads, landscaping, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, clubs, and stadiums. As the governor, I am very glad that such a serious project is being implemented in the Penza Oblast."
Oleg Melnichenko recalled that in June of this year, another agreement was signed between the Penza Oblast and Damate Group of Companies.
"We will continue to follow these agreements and support Damate projects in our region," the governor stated.
Thanks to the construction of new poultry buildings, Damate will provide more than 100 local residents with additional jobs, 43 people have already been employed.
It is expected that the first unit will reach its design capacity at the beginning of next year. The second block is about 35% ready. The foundations and metal structures have been completed, wall and roof sandwich panels are being installed, and technological equipment is being supplied. The second stage of the poultry units is scheduled to be completed by August 2025.
"We continue to develop a turkey production project in the Penza Oblast to increase production volumes. The new sites that we have built will further strengthen the position of the company and the region as a leader in turkey production. I would like to note that all the work on the launch of the facilities was carried out on time, thanks to the active assistance of the Penza Oblast government," stated Naum Babayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damate Group.
