Over the eight years of implementing the national project “Safe Quality Roads”, the condition of streets and roads in the Penza agglomeration (including Penza, Zarechny, and parts of the Penza district) has improved significantly. The proportion of roads meeting standards has increased from 51.8% to 85%, achieving the federal targets.
“This scale of work has been unprecedented since the launch of the national project. Roads in Penza were repaired before, but never to this extent,” said Viktor Galkin, Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Construction of the Penza Oblast.
In previous years, repairs primarily focused on central highways. However, in 2024, repair efforts were concentrated on residential areas, where streets had been neglected for many years. Asphalt pavement was updated on 123 streets spanning a total of 45 km in small neighborhoods. New traffic lights were installed, pedestrian crossings were upgraded with additional lighting, and cameras were installed to monitor traffic violations.
Additionally, interchanges were constructed on the 624 km stretch of the M-5 “Ural” highway and Antonov-Izmaylov street.
In the Penza district, three road sections were repaired in the villages of Zasechnoye and Bogoslovka: Myasnitskaya Street, Pribrezhnaya Boulevard, and Sovetskaya Street, totaling 1.62 km.
All the above-mentioned projects were inspected by the Public Council under the Ministry of Construction of the Penza Oblast. A total of 60 inspections were conducted, during which the pace and quality of the work were monitored, while also gathering feedback from local residents about their satisfaction with the new asphalt pavement.
In Zarechny, about 2 km of asphalt pavement were updated. Renovation projects included sections of the 30th Anniversary of Victory Avenue, 20th Road, Vostochnaya Street, and Transportnaya Street. Thanks to the installation of lighting on Transportnaya Street, no street in Zarechny is left unlit.
