On Friday, January 31, 2025, the 9th Agricultural Forum, titled "Development of Agricultural Production in the Penza Oblast," took place at Penza State Agrarian University.
The forum gathered over 400 participants and featured three key sections: the development of rural areas in 2025, the advancement of livestock farming in the Penza Oblast, and the progress of crop production in the region.
The Chairman of the Government of the Penza Oblast, Nikolai Simonov, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
"The Penza Oblast is relatively small, covering just one percent of Russia’s territory, yet its agricultural achievements are significant. Our region plays a crucial role in the country's agriculture. We lead in several areas, including livestock farming, poultry production, and milk production," emphasized the regional cabinet head.
"Special attention is being given to improving the living standards of industry workers. Since 2020, the state program 'Comprehensive Development of Rural Areas' has been in effect. This year, nearly one billion rubles have been allocated for the comprehensive development of rural areas in the Penza Region. Under this program, we will continue building modern, comfortable housing, improving public spaces, and constructing and repairing roads," noted Vyacheslav Shinyaev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Penza Region.
"Despite the state of emergency due to frost and drought, the region has harvested an impressive crop—over 2.6 million tons of grain and more than 2.1 million tons of sugar beets. The cultivation of new agricultural crops, such as soybeans, is also thriving. In 2024, the total soybean harvest reached 206,000 tons, an all-time record for the region. In soybean production, we rank first in the Volga Federal District," reported Eduard Katashov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Penza Region.
