The meeting with the head of the Donetsk People's Republic took place as part of the governor’s working visit to the new regions of the Russian Federation.
This year, around 450 km of roads are planned to be repaired in the DPR, with more than half of the work to be carried out by Penza-based company "Mostovik." The company is implementing 19 infrastructure projects in the Donetsk People's Republic, including the construction, major repair, and reconstruction of 6 road sections and 13 artificial structures.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of youth policy. Oleg Melnichenko invited the Donetsk team to Penza for the "Guardsman" military-patriotic training camp of the Volga Federal District’s Yunarmy movement. Agreements were also reached on cooperation between the Sambo Federations of the Penza Oblast and the DPR.
The governor, together with the presidents of the federations, Ivan Nikolayev and Vladimir Kononov, a Hero of the Donetsk People's Republic, visited a training session for young sambo athletes.
"Sambo is our Soviet, and now Russian, sport. It is a traditional form of wrestling that was born on our land and passed down to us by our fathers and grandfathers," emphasized Oleg Melnichenko. "The President of the Russian Federation initiated a project for the development of sambo, which is being carried out under the auspices of the United Russia party. In the Penza Oblast, it is being successfully implemented."
"We will collaborate between our sports federations, build friendships, and compete," he added. "I invite you to our competitions. We have all the necessary conditions, including a great Combat Sports Palace. I wish you sporting success. I am confident that the names of Donetsk athletes will be heard at tournaments of the highest level."
